Privacy Statement The Airmen’s Stories – Sgt. G S M MacLeod
George Sutherland Murray MacLeod of Dornoch, Sutherland joined the RAF as a Boy Entrant in February 1939. He later volunteered for flying duties and after completing his training he joined 235 Squadron in September 1940 as a WOp/Air Gunner.
MacLeod was killed on 23rd March 1941, still with 235 Squadron, aged 18.
Blenheim IV L9404 LA-A was shot down by a Me109 during an anti-shipping operation off the Dutch coast.
The pilot, Sgt. CR Evans, and Sgt. EH Harvey were also lost.
MacLeod is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial, panel 47.
