Privacy Statement The Airmen’s Stories – Lt.(FAA) A McL Mackinnon

 

Adam McLeod Mackinnon joined the RAF on a short service commission in December 1936. He was posted to 9 FTS Hullavington on 20th March 1937 and joined 51 Squadron at Linton-on-Ouse on 23rd October.

Mackinnon transferred to the Fleet Air Arm in 1938. He was serving with 804 Squadron at Hatston in early July 1940, flying Sea Gladiators on dockyard defence.

He later served in 808 and 821 Squadrons and flew from HMS Furious, Courageous, Ark Royal, Illustrious and Attacker.

His subsequent service is currently undocumented until 1958, when Mackinnon retired as a Lieutenant Commander.
