Privacy Statement The Airmen’s Stories – F/O T B Little
Thomas Burgess Little was born in Montreal on 9th September 1917 and joined the RCAF on 16th August 1939. He was with No. 1 (RCAF) Squadron when it arrived in the UK on 20th June 1940.

Little destroyed a Me109 on 31st August. He was himself shot down in Hurricane P3534 on 11th September during an attack on He111’s over Tunbridge Wells. He baled out, wounded in the leg and with burns to face and side of body, landed at Rotherfield and was admitted to the Kent and Sussex Hospital, Tunbridge Wells. His Hurricane, P3534, crashed at Lakestreet Manor, Mayfield.
On 27th August 1941 Little, now serving as a Flight Lieutenant with 402 (RCAF) Squadron, took part in a bomber escort in Hurricane IIb Z5001.
He collided over the Channel with a Spitfire. This may have been W3723 of 222 Squadron, its pilot F/Lt. JC Martin was killed.
Little was reported ‘Missing’, he was 24 and is remembered on the Runnymede Memorial, Panel 59.
