Privacy Statement The Airmen’s Stories – Sgt. E R Limpenny
Eric Ronald Limpenny was born on 29th January 1919 and joined the RAFVR about June 1938 as an Airman u/t Pilot. Called up on 1st September 1939, he completed his training and arrived at 7 OTU Hawarden on 16th September 1940.
After converting to Spitfires Limpenny joined 64 Squadron at Leconfield on 30th September. He flew his first operational sortie with the squadron on 6th October 1940.
On the 27th he damaged a Do17.
His subsequent service is currently undocumented until he was commissioned in January 1945.
Limpenny was released from the RAF in 1946 as a Flying Officer.
He died in Southend-on-Sea in August 1986.
