Privacy Statement The Airmen’s Stories – P/O H N Hunt
Henry Norman Hunt joined the RAFVR in August 1938 as an Airman u/t Pilot. Called up on 1st September 1939, he completed his training and was posted to 6 OTU Sutton Bridge on 3rd June 1940. He was commissioned on the 9th and, after converting to Hurricanes, was posted to 263 Squadron at Drem on 23rd June 1940.
Hunt moved to 504 Squadron at Castletown on 11th July.

On 3rd April 1941 Heinkel He111H-5 4014 1G+MH of 1/KG27 was attacked over Portreath and brought down in the sea off Stepper Point near Padstow. Hunt and S/Ldr. AH Rook were credited with its destruction. Lt. Fritz Huhle and four crew were rescued.
Hunt was killed on 13th May 1941. His Hurricane I V6730 crashed into the sea off Lyme Regis, cause unknown, whilst on a convoy patrol.
He was 22 and is remembered on the Runnymede Memorial, Panel 33.
