Privacy Statement The Airmen’s Stories – P/O H B L Hough
Harold Basil Lincoln Hough of Finchley, London joined the RAFVR about April 1939 as an Airman u/t Pilot. Called up on 1st September 1939, he completed his training at 9 FTS.
He was then commissioned and arrived at 5 OTU Aston Down on 10th June 1940. After converting to Blenheims Hough was posted to 600 Squadron at Northolt on 26th June.

During a night patrol on 8th September Hough became lost due to his radio failing. When the fuel was exhausted Hough and the two members of his crew baled out at 6000 feet over Basingstoke. The Blenheim, L1111, crashed near Odiham.
Hough was posted to 54 OTU Church Fenton in early 1941. On 16th August 1941 Hough and P/O JME Daniels were returning to Church Fenton in Magister L8232. It was seen to be performing low-level aerobatics near St.Albans when it spun in, killing both men.
Hough was cremated at the Lawns Wood Crematorium, Leeds.
