Privacy Statement The Airmen’s Stories – Sgt. F A P Head
Frederick Arthur Percy Head joined the RAF in September 1939 as an Airman u/t Air Gunner. With his training completed he joined 236 Squadron on 27th March 1940.
On 11th July he was in Blenheim L6816 which was damaged by return fire from a He111 engaged over Start Point but it landed safely at St Eval.
On 1st August 1940 Head was in Blenheim IV R2774 which failed to return from a bomber-escort operation. It may have been shot down by the ground defences at Querqueville aerodrome or could have been the victim of Oblt. Dullberg of III/JG27. P/O BM McDonough was also lost.
Head was 25. He is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial, panel 15.
