Privacy Statement The Airmen’s Stories – F/O J F J Haworth
Joseph Frederick John Haworth of Teddington, Middlesex was born on 21st December 1916 and joined the RAF on a short service commission in March 1937. He was posted to 2 FTS Brize Norton on 5th June and joined 25 Squadron at Hawkinge on 8th January 1938.
On 11th June 1940 Haworth was posted to 43 Squadron at Tangmere. He was investigating a reported He115 south of the Needles on 20th July, it turned out to be a He59 and he was hit by its defensive fire. He baled out from his Hurricane P3964 but was never found.
He was 23 and is remembered on the Runnymede Memorial, panel 5.
