Privacy Statement The Airmen’s Stories – Sgt. H R Gilyeat
Harold Roy Gilyeat joined the RAFVR about June 1940 as an Aircrafthand. He volunteered for aircrew duties and went to Yatesbury for a short radar course, after which he joined 29 Squadron as a radar operator.
He flew his first operational sortie on 23rd September 1940, two more on the 30th and his last on 7th October.
His subsequent service is currently undocumented though it is known that he survived the war and died in June 1995.
