Privacy Statement The Airmen’s Stories – Sgt. P F Freer
Peter Foster Freer, of Cottingham, Yorkshire joined the RAFVR in June 1938 as an Airman u/t Pilot. Called up on 1st September 1939, he completed his training and was posted to 12 Group Pool at Aston Down on 11th December.
After converting to Blenheims he was posted to 29 squadron at Debden on 12th January 1940.

He served with 29 throughout the Battle and was commissioned in April 1941.
On 11th May 1941 he was killed with his crew member Sgt. VJ Wingfield when their Beaufighter IF, R2245, crashed on the approach to West Malling, having been damaged by return fire from an enemy bomber.
He is buried in Cottingham Cemetery, Haltemprice, Yorkshire.
