Privacy Statement The Airmen’s Stories – Sgt. V R Chapman
Victor Ronald Chapman joined the RAFVR in July 1939 as an Airman u/t Pilot. Called up on 1st September 1939, he later remustered as an Airman u/t Air Gunner.
After completing his gunnery training Chapman joined 264 Squadron in July 1940. On 28th August he was the gunner in Defiant L6957 which had its petrol tank holed during an attack on a He111 over Folkestone.
Chapman and his pilot, Sgt. AJ Lauder, returned safely to Hornchurch.
Chapman was still serving with 264 Squadron in November 1940.
His subsequent service is currently undocumented and it is not known when he was released from the RAF.
