Archibald Wilkinson Brown was commissioned as a direct-entry Air Gunner in April 1940 and, after a gunnery course, was posted to 25 Squadron at North Weald on 1st June.

Brown was attached to COS from 15th July to 9th August. On 14th September 1940 he was flying with P/O MJ Herrick in a night sortie over London. They intercepted and shot down a He111. It crashed at Newmans End, near Sheering, Essex.

His subsequent service is currently undocumented until he was released in 1945 as a Flight Lieutenant.

Brown died in 1997.
